Movie Review: Kiss the Frog
Well, right after "Vampires Suck" another review. This time: Kiss the Frog from Disney.
First things first - I liked it. A lot! Really! It was some kinda good ol' Disney movies ye can watch evertime, no matter how old ye are.
Most important thing: it was drawn. Like in the good ol' times when Disney was still Disney and made it's drawings look like the specific style of art where the movie was set. Like in Aristocats, where they used this street artist scribble style orthe greek stuff in Hercules or also this medieval style in Sleeping Beauty.
This time, it was the style of New Orleans and the bayous with all it's voodoo magic and culture. Liked it very much! And I loved the music. It was a mix between blues and jazz, a style I like to hear once in a while. So the soundtrack was a pig plus!
Next thing I liked were the characters. I don' like female main characters that do nothin' but screaming and whining. This one was cool. She had strenght and humor and was nice drawn, too. Her name was Tiana. I liked Ray, the firefly which was hopelessly in love with the evenstar, the crocodile names Louis which was playin' trumpet, but my most beloved character this time was prince Naveen. He was transformed into a frog in the first place. I loved his humor. And he played banjo-ukulele. Little guitar means what?!
Well, he got in trouble with Dr.Facilier, a voodoo magician which betrayed him and made his servant look like him. Than he wanted this servant to marry the best friend of Tiana (rich girl, rich daddy), so he could kill the father and would be master of New Orleans or whatever...sounds a little bit stupid but it wasn't. I just don' wanna spoiler too much. And it's Disney, c'mon, there's no reason to be rational.
Yeah, nevertheless, Naveen (like the name) kissed Tiana which transformed into a frog, too, they had to run away to save their lifes and than a travel through the bayous began 'cause they wanted to meet Mama Odi (vooodoo priestress) to made them human again.
Long story short: they succeed, Naveen falls in love for Tiana, they marry and everything's fine. But well, it's really a great and funny movie (as much fun a traditional Disney can be) and it was worth watchin'.
Guess I will buy that DVD. Finally, a Disney movie that's not animated like Playmobil, completely stupid or just crap. No, it's a movie like ye know it from your childhood - in my opinion.
Already said: liked it! In one scene I just laughed my ass off. I just say: hello.
